New practice group to be chaired by Jason R. Harris

Cranfill Sumner & Hartzog LLP (CSH Law) today announced that it has added an Admiralty and Maritime Practice Group. Jason R. Harris will serve as Chair of the new practice group and will be based in the firm’s Wilmington office.

“We are excited to expand our practice areas to include admiralty and maritime law,” said Marshall Wall, managing partner of CSH Law. “This area of law requires a special skill set and knowledge and we are confident our clients will be well served in this area under Jason’s leadership moving forward.”

The new practice group will include general litigation, transportation, admiralty, maritime and corporate matters. CSH Law attorneys will assist clients seeking help in legal issues relating to maritime fatalities, serious personal injuries and other marine casualties related to commercial shipping and recreational boating.

The Admiralty and Maritime attorneys will advise insurers, marinas, terminals and other shoreside operations concerning various industry-related legal risks and advise to offer protection.

Jason R. Harris, Chair of the CSH Law Admiralty and Maritime Practice Group, brings 17 years of experience in admiralty and maritime law to the firm. He is a Proctor Member of the Maritime Law Association of the United States (MLA) where he currently serves on the Board of Directors.  He is also the Chairman of the MLA’s Salvage Committee and for many years authored the Salvage Case Law Update.  He is also a member of the Southeastern Admiralty Law Association, serves as Legal Counsel to the American Salvage Association and is a former member and former General Counsel of the International Association of Marine Investigators.
