On Feb. 28, The Chicago Bar Association launched its podcast series, @theBar. The first episode features Carl Newman co-hosting an interview with Judge Richard Posner. The podcast can be found at the @theBar page.
Judge Posner is a retired 7th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals Judge and also serves as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Chicago Law School. On the podcast, Judge Posner discussed his sudden retirement from the 7th Circuit, his new focus on pro se litigants, his argument for a mandatory retirement age for federal judges, his thoughts on Chief Justice Roberts, and his philosophy of judicial realism – namely that disputes ought to be settled by judges finding the more reasonable party without being bound by rules or the formal aspects of the law. Plus, he talks about his cat, Pixie.
Carl Newman is an associate based in the Raleigh office of Cranfill Sumner & Hartzog, LLP, where he focuses on appellate practice.
