With the ongoing evolution of the coronavirus (COVID-19), Cranfill Sumner is continuously monitoring and assessing the situation to discern the best way we can do our part to help combat the spread of this virus and to provide our clients with excellent client service and limited disruption to your legal needs in North Carolina. Effective today, March 16, 2020, Cranfill Sumner office locations (Wilmington, Charlotte, Raleigh) will remain open but operating with reduced staff on-site for the time being.

All attorneys and staff have the option to work remotely. As a firm we have worked diligently to move our network to a cloud-based system that has passed multiple levels of cybersecurity testing. In light of the recent hurricanes that displaced our Wilmington office, we learned many valuable lessons about how to operate as a mobile firm and are confident in our system’s reliability and security. We are also confident in our firm’s processes. We know that our attorneys and staff are prepared to work remotely, accessing our systems with the same levels of security and availability as they would from the office.

As a firm, we are diligently monitoring the CDC’s guidance on responding to COVID-19. In addition to working remotely, we have implemented the following to serve our clients in the safest way possible:

  • We are sanitizing our offices and hands. While our offices are not closing, we are dedicated to keeping our office a safe space for our employees and visitors. All frequently touched surfaces are being routinely cleaned throughout each business day. Hand sanitizer is readily available for employees and visitors.
  • Phone, Skype or Webinar meetings are available. We have flexible options to meet with our clients virtually in the event that an in-office meeting is not practical. We will also be offering continuing education webinar options throughout 2020 for those clients who are working remote.
  • If you are sick, please stay home. We are happy to meet with clients virtually or reschedule at your convenience. For our employees, if they need to be away from the office during this time, we are creating flexible remote-working options so they can also work remotely if they need to. We are committed to keeping everyone safe.

It is our goal that regardless of where we are working our clients will still receive the same level of client service they have come to expect from our firm, and that we will do all that we can to keep our community and Cranfill Sumner team safe and healthy.

Please know that the health of our clients and employees is our TOP priority.

In addition to being available by email, telephone, or video conferencing at your convenience, we are also providing regular updates via webinars and client email alerts. You can subscribe to those alerts via our website here.
