Lyons Honored with Annual Distinguished Leader in Diversity and Inclusion Award
Cranfill Sumner LLP presented its 2021 Distinguished Leader in Diversity and Inclusion Award to Janelle Lyons. Lyons is a Partner based in the firm’s Charlotte office.
The Cranfill Sumner Distinguished Leader in Diversity and Inclusion Award is presented to an individual who embodies the firm’s commitment to expanding diversity and inclusion within the firm’s offices and the surrounding communities.

Lyons is one of few practicing attorneys in the Charlotte, North Carolina area who maintains a practice in the areas of civil litigation in Superior Court and the Federal Court, and practices in the area of family law.
She serves as Chair of the Cranfill Sumner Diversity Committee, and the firm’s community service initiatives in Charlotte. She is also active in the Mecklenburg County Bar, is former Co-President of the John S. Leary Association of Black Attorneys, and a current member of the Board of Directors for the John S. Leary Bar Association Scholarship Foundation. She has served in various leadership positions with the Junior League of Charlotte and was named one of the Charlotte Business Journal 2017 40 Under 40 Honorees.
She received her law degree from the William and Mary School of Law and her bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
