Kara Gansmann and Vanita Young recently served as volunteers at a walk-in legal clinic held at the Fayetteville Vet Center on July 19, 2017. The event was sponsored by the North Carolina Pro Bono Resource Center.
Volunteers at the event offered information and legal advice to military veterans at no cost. Over 40 veterans received legal counsel on issues ranging from family law, criminal law, trust and estates planning, consumer law, discharge upgrades, and benefits appeals.
Kara and Vanita advised veterans on trust and estate planning, long-term care planning, and probate administration at the event. Kara is an elder law attorney with Cranfill Sumner & Hartzog LLP (Cranfill Sumner), and Vanita is a paralegal with the Elder Law Practice Group at Cranfill Sumner.
The pro bono clinic is a pilot project of the North Carolina Pro Bono Resource Center. The Pro Bono Resource Center intends to host other similar events across the state.
