Cranfill Sumner LLP today announced that J.D. Fisher has joined the firm’s Wilmington office as an associate attorney. He focuses his practice in civil litigation.

He primarily works with local contractors and community association groups to resolve construction-related disputes.

During law school, he served as a summer clerk for a Charlotte firm, where he assisted the firm’s litigation attorneys in construction and labor and employment matters. He also interned at the North Carolina Court of Appeals, where he drafted bench briefs and conducted extensive legal research for civil and criminal cases on appeal for the Honorable April C. Wood. He also spent a semester working for Blue Ridge Legal Services, where he helped attorneys serve indigent clients in civil matters ranging from landlord-tenant disputes to estate planning. He finished as a quarterfinalist in the school’s mock trial and negotiation competitions.

Prior to law school, he worked as office staff for two civil litigation firms in Wilmington.

He received his law degree from the Washington and Lee University School of Law and his bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
