Kara Gansmann, an Elder Law attorney in the Wilmington office of Cranfill Sumner & Hartzog LLP, has been selected to serve as the Co-Chair of the CLE Committee for the Elder & Special Needs Law Section of the North Carolina Bar Association.

In this role, Kara will plan and organize two different CLE events sponsored by the North Carolina Bar Association:  a one-day course in October 2017, focusing on the basic legal issues of Elder Law; and a two-day symposium in February 2018, addressing advanced legal issues related to the Elder Law and Special Needs section.   Kara will select speakers to present at these events where attendees from across the state will receive credit for continuing legal education.  Kara will be working with Asheville Elder Law attorney Nicki Applefield as CLE Co-Chair.  Their one-year term begins July 1, 2017.

The Elder & Special Needs Law Section focuses on legal issues facing the state’s senior population, including planning for long-term care and qualifying for public benefits such as Medicaid and Veterans’ Benefits.
