Cranfill Sumner LLP today announced that Susan Hofer has been named a Partner Emerita. She previously served as the Chair of the firm’s Aviation Litigation Practice Group and was based in the firm’s Charlotte office.

Hofer’s legal career spans 35 years, and she is also a FAA certificated pilot, holding commercial and certified flight instructor, remote pilot – small unmanned aircraft system, and glider certificates.
She has represented manufacturers, pilots, mechanics, FBOs, Part 135 operators, and others in matters involving everything from complex litigation arising from major air crashes to FAA enforcement actions.
She has been an active member of the North Carolina Bar, American Bar Association, Aviation Insurance Association, International Aviation Womens Association, Experimental Aircraft Association, Organization of Flying Adjusters, National Business Aviation Association, a Panel Attorney for the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, and is a past President of the Lawyer Pilots Bar Association.
Hofer received her law degree from the University of Maryland School of Law and her bachelor’s degree from Catholic University of America.
