Dan Hartzog, Jr. obtained dismissal of all claims in a lawsuit filed by four former police officers for a Town. The case received significant media attention, due in part to the involvement of a Superior Court Judge.
The officers brought twenty separate causes of action against the Town and various officials, including claims for wrongful discharge, violations of due process, equal protection, free speech, defamation, negligent and intentional infliction of emotional distress, violation of the wage and hour act, as well as several others. After removal to federal court, plaintiffs filed a dismissal of their federal claims, and the case was remanded. Following remand, defendants filed a motion to dismiss on various grounds, which was granted.
