Mica Nguyen Worthy, practice group leader for the International Business Law Practice Group, along with partner Rebecca Knudson, Construction Practice Group Co-Chair, represented a private equity company involved in complex business transactions in the hotel industry. Plaintiff was a company with foreign owners in China, who claimed the private equity company made misrepresentations and/or mishandled Plaintiff’s investments, despite substantial disclosures and the impact of the global pandemic on the hospitality industry. After handling initial discovery and discussion with opposing counsel, the parties came to an amenable favorable settlement at mediation without admission of liability for the client.
