On May 20, Cranfill Sumner LLP attorneys and summer clerks from across our offices volunteered for the North Carolina Bar Foundation pro bono clinic the Empower Hour.

Cranfill Sumner hosted the web-based opportunity which supports low-income North Carolinians and helps provide them with free access to civil legal questions. In one hour, the teams collectively worked on 33 questions in 14 different areas of law from individuals across 26 counties.

The event was based on the American Bar Association’s Free Legal Answers program which allows financially eligible individuals to ask a question through a website and receive free legal advice in response.  The North Carolina Bar Foundation administers the program in North Carolina.
