David Ward and Ginger Hunsucker successfully defended two Emergency Department physicians and an Emergency Department physician assistant in a multi-week medical malpractice trial in eastern North Carolina.  Plaintiff’s claims involved allegations regarding failure to diagnose acute chest syndrome, failure to interpret radiological film, and failure in the development of policies, all of which the Plaintiff claimed led to the death of a 34 year old father of two.  At the close of Plaintiff’s evidence, Mr. Ward and Ms. Hunsucker were able to obtain directed verdict for the physician assistant.  After the presentation of the Emergency Department defense case, the jury returned a verdict in favor of the Emergency Department physicians, finding no negligence.
