On Oct. 13, the Supreme Court of North Carolina adopted amendments to the North Carolina Rules of Appellate Procedure. The new rules will impact all appellate cases beginning Jan. 1, 2022.

Among other things, the amendments:

  • Mandate e-filing by counsel in all appeals;
  • Require counsel to meet and confer before appellate motions are files;
  • Allow the appellate courts to hear oral argument via remote platform
