Gina is Of Counsel at the Raleigh office of Cranfill Sumner LLP, where she focuses her practice on defending clients embroiled in complex civil litigation.  Her primary areas of practice include mass tort litigation, product liability, catastrophic injury matters, commercial litigation, defending law firms, lawyers and other professionals accused of malpractice, DRAM shop litigation and premises liability actions.

Prior to her move to North Carolina, Gina practiced law in Connecticut and New York.  Gina has experience defending claims made against product manufacturers, religious organizations, transportation companies, fitness centers, national toy retailers, taverns, attorneys, law firms, engineers, construction companies, and disaster remediation service providers.

Gina maintains an AV rating with Martindale-Hubbell, a prestigious peer review rating that recognizes attorneys who have reached high levels of skill and integrity.

In addition to having the privilege of practicing law, Gina has been issued an Adjuster license by the North Carolina Department of Insurance. Gina also holds a North Carolina Real Estate Broker License, and was designated in 2020 by the National Commercial Real Estate Association as a Commercial Real Estate Advisor and a Certified Real Estate Investment Planning Specialist.

Gina in her spare time enjoys exploring all that North Carolina has to offer.  She enjoys spending time with her family on the coast and in the mountains.

Gina’s recent speaking engagements, include:

  • On June 22, 2022, in Las Vegas, Nevada, Gina M. Von Oehsen Cleary served as a presenter at a client’s panel counsel meeting prior to the national Defense Asbestos Litigation Seminar. Gina’s presentation focused on best practices when working with National Coordinating Counsel and the Client.


  • Represented companies in the oil, marine, aerospace, construction, railroad, automotive and personal care product industries defending against claims alleging asbestos exposure.
  • Served as co-counsel representing a group of individuals affected by groundwater contaminated from the gasoline additive MTBE.
  • Served as litigation team leader actively managing files in New York and Connecticut defending a manufacturer of keyboards in the Repetitive Stress Injury Litigation.
